Heart Failure Position Statement
Th Heart Failure Patient Foundation developed a position statement regarding research that was written by healthcare providers, researchers, patients and caregivers. The position of the HF Patient Foundation is:
- Patients with HF are recommended to be actively engaged in research at all levels.
- Patients with HF are recommended to have access to unbiased research findings.
- Patients with HF, their families, caregivers, and community are recommended to be invited to discuss perceived needs and collaborate in the development of research interventions, protocols, and outcome measures.
- HF researchers are recommended to design studies that are inclusive and represent the diverse patient community.
- HF researchers are recommended to collaborate and incorporate patients throughout the research process.
- HF healthcare clinicians are recommended to present opportunities to patients to participate in research.
- HF healthcare clinicians are recommended to educate patients on research results and change therapy/plan of care based on new science.
- All research funding agents are recommended to assess strategies in proposed studies to ensure inclusion of patients in the research process and representation of minoritized and underserved populations.
